AN ACT to amend the state law, in relation to the designation of English
as the state language
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
1 Section 1. The state law is amended by adding a new section 87 to
2 read as follows:
3 S 87. STATE LANGUAGE. ENGLISH SHALL BE THE OFFICIAL LANGUAGE OF THE
4 STATE OF NEW YORK.
5 S 2. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall
6 have become a law.
